Moving to Pickering, North York's

Just curious what it's like living in Pickering. Looking at a house there. Currently live on the outskirts of a large city but originally from a small town. Both have their pros and cons in my experience.

We have pre- schoolers and would hope to stay there until they leave home.

It looks like there's only one nursery? And the primary school is on 2 sites? Any views / insights welcome.

Which part of Pickering are you looking at? Traffic going through on the A170 can form long queues in the summer, which can feel like a bit of a nuisance.

Also, don't even try driving anywhere during War Weekend!

It's a nice town with generally good services though. People are friendly and of course the North York Moors are gorgeous.

Thanks. It's at the north end so we could head Whitby direction without having the use that roundabout but it might be annoying going other places.

Do you know anything about the childcare or schools? Do kids from Pickering ever go to Ryedale school? Is it a pain the primary school being split in 2?
