Crit my kitchen design please

Please ignore the wall colour.

Going with DIY kitchens for this. Black units, Iroko worktops, black or steel colour dishwasher/cooker/fridgefreezer.

Ideally I would like a built in induction hob with separate cookers but DP isn't keen and wants freestanding.. so if anyone can recommend a great freestanding induction cooker that would help loads.

Anything jumping out that will/wont work. the fridge height - we will be getting a taller one than in the image so it lines up with the 2m tall larder cupboard. So - does this work? should we tile? Should we not?

Flooring - we are currently thinking either concrete tiles or cork.

will have to look into moving the back ally door.

Lots to think about though will also have to work out quite why DP is SO set on having an extractor that routes externally. I think he's worried about kitchen smells getting everywhere

If you have an extractor set to circulate you just need to make sure you change the carbon filter regularly. The filter neutralises the cooking smells.

@TreeDice I did it using the diy kitchens kitchen builder thing. Pretty user friendly!

@Waspie I know! He’s insistent that we won’t change the filters enough and it won’t work…..I mean he may have a partial point. But he’s super set on it so we shall see what I can persuade him about.

I agree with others about moving the cooker and potentially the door, which would give you a longer run and help you relocate the cooker. I'd also be hesitant about the colour. Your current kitchen is dated but it super light and bright, I think in quite a narrow space dark cupboards and worktop might draw the space in. I would highly recommend DIY kitchens though!

Cooking doesn't just create smells - it creates moisture (lots) and grease. A vented extractor is much, much better than one that can only deal with smells.
