What stage are you at with the application? Decision in principles are usually instant but a full application can take a few weeks once the underwriters have asked for documents and assessed them and a valuation has been carried out on the security property. Each lender has different service levels for checks, if you are using a broker they'll be able to advise you of the current timescales for your chosen lender

I got mine after 1 week (TSB). But I have heard other lenders may take up to 3 weeks.

We made an offer on the late May bank holiday. Our mortgage application went in 48 hours later. Got our offer at 10am today.

We've already found a house, so it's a full mortgage application. It went in yesterday.

We've gone through a broker, he says we should here something back this week but I'm expecting it to take longer.

I got mine back within a week with halifax

We applied about 2 weeks ago with Natwest. Been told its been approved subject to valuation. So just waiting anxiously for that to happen. A friend is remortgaging with nationwide and they're having to wait 10 days for a surveyor to be available.

So hopefully I should hear back by next week 🤞

We got ours back in a couple of days, which even the mortgage broker was surprised with. However we were very straightforward - well within affordability, 20% deposit, no weirdness with self employment etc. and they valued the house with a desktop survey.

On our last mortgage as first time buyers 5 years ago I think it was just over a week.
