Critique my plans - ground floor extension

1980 detached house, with single storey side lean extension, currently houses the kitchen, utility, and shower room. Back of house has huge useless conservatory, we can’t wait to get rid of. We’re adding a double storey side extension, enveloping the single side lean, extending very slightly around the back.
Primary motivation is to add upstairs master suite but obviously benefit of adding more downstairs space.
Plans attached are as is currently vs architect suggestion. I’m not sold on the inclusion of dining within the kitchen, I really like the delineation we’ve got currently of 3 distinct zones but we need to make the family area larger. In an ideal world would prefer a larger two step breakfast bar/ Island to hide kitchen mess from view of dining table but don’t think that can be done with the space we have and limitations of structure.
I can’t see any photos online I like of dining kitchens which isn’t helping as can’t visualise exactly what it would look like.
Any suggestions? Suggested space would be 5.8 m X 3.7m but breakfast bar isn’t included within this.

I know its a drawing, but it depends how big ur dining will be, as where its placed now, looks pretty close to a fridge, which will swing out & with chairs that will pull out. You need to make sure it doesn't end up being a tight squeeze which atm it seems so. A suggestion is If you could reposition the sofa or not have a L shaped one, you could potentially put the dinning horizontal across the kitchen entry door so long as there is enough room without obstructing the door & maybe get an island in the middle of kitchen that u could sit at in lieu of a breakfast bar, unless u dont like islands.

Thanks @Getitdonet we’re considering changing to an island but not sure if the opening into the kitchen would be wide enough to site the dining table, I’m thinking it may be too cramped.
This is the first drawings from our architect and as such the location of kitchen appliances is indicative, I definitely wouldn’t have the fridge opening beside dining table.

Yes agree your dining table looks tight there. I also think your sink is too far away from your other 'work stations'. I think the entry to the family room is compromised by the breakfast bar, which seems oddly sited, but not a big fan of them anyway.
