What size is your hot water tank?

Help!

We have just had a new system boiler and an unvented Megaflo hot water tank installed. It was not cheap!

On several recommedations we had a 250l tank installed. I am now having slight palpitations that this was a mistake and we should have gone bigger!

I should say that we have also installed a new cold water storage tank and DAB pump which means we have 3 bar of pressure.

Please tell me how big your hot water tank is and how many/how long showers you can get?

Ours is 250l, Never run out of hot water yet, and takes about 30 minutes to heat it up again. And I like a deep v hot bath.

250l is large.

We have 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and a 24Kw system boiler. Our showers use a lot of water too. We have a 210l tank.

We have only once run out of hot water and that was because we had two showers and a bath in quick succession and the hot water was off.

Our hot water will reheat in about 25mins.

You're fine.

250l but it’s on its side and the position of the temperature sensor means that it doesn’t get fully heated. So we do run out, but only when the HW is off.
We are a family of five though and eldest likes massive baths.

Thanks, this has made me feel much better! DH had first shower last night and ran out of HW in 15 mins (with piddly little attached to the taps shower). But only got the immersion on so far as boiler not hooked up which (despite being a bottom immersion) I expect doesn't provide a full hot tank.

Doesn't sound like we've undersized. Thank goodness!!!

How long had the immersion been on for? Maybe it just wasn’t long enough to heat the tank fully.

@4PawsGood 24 hours... (it takes 254 mins to heat the tank as a bottom 3kw immersion) but reading the blurb I suspect it doesn't do a full tank heat.

Also, just spoke to the heating engineer and we should be able to make the water hotter if need be so it lasts longer but I suspect once we have installed modern showers with all their water saving mods that we'll be golden.
