Bathroom storage - wall cabinet or basin vanity?

If you had a choice, would you prefer bathroom storage to be under the basin in a vanity unit, or on the wall in a mirrored cabinet? Was thinking of getting a vanity basin but they mostly have handles, and I prefer handle-less - there's much less choice in terms of the sink design though.

I went for both. I have a vanity sink unit and also a large mirrored lit cabinet.

I love my mirrored cabinet, it keeps all my lotions and potions ready for me to use. The cupboard under the sink I use for cleaning products and spare loo rolls.

if I had to choose either/or - I'd go for the cabinet every time.

We have gone for a bit of both. This is ours-

Like @ChequerBoard I've got a mirrored cupboard for medicines, lotions and potions, and a two shelf wall hung vanity unit with the bottom shelf for loo rolls and top shelf for all cleaning stuff.
I love having everything tidied away.

Vanity unit. I hate mirrored cupboards. They are never big enough for anything useful.

I got a lovely one from B&Q when we re did our bathroom

I have a Laufen sink and vanity and it’s brilliant. Ditto one from Duravit. I have a matching mirror wall cabinet too. They also make tall wall cabinets that are deeper. If you are short of storage get both! The handles on both the Laufen and Duravit units are very tasteful!

Oh and it's easy to get handleless vanity units too. I've ordered one for my next bathroom project.

Thanks everyone, I think I'll have to research a bit more and see if I can get a combination that fits the space ...

IKEA do vanity units with a choice of basins. I have to say the two deep drawers are brilliant for finding things.

Have a look at Tikamoon, they do lovely bathroom units with sinks.

CoolKitkat · 24/05/2021 12:07

Great, I'll take a look at those options. I had a previous Ikea cabinet in the bathroom, but it didn't last well - mdf so started to 'bubble' underneath and the paint was coming off. Not sure if they're using better materials these days ...

We have both. A large vanity sink and a mirrored wall cabinet. he spare soap, shampoo, bubble bath etc is in the vanity unit along with my make up in the drawers and our toothbrushes, moisturiser etc in the mirrored cupboard.

YellowFish12 · 24/05/2021 12:26

Both 😀 you can’t really have too much storage in a bathroom

I have a vanity unit with two deep drawers -
Cleaning products in bottom one, shampoo and stuff used every shower in the top one. Mirror unit has small things like toothbrush heads and make up remover and deodorant.

Built in shelf unit next to the toilet for spare toilet roll and other things in white tubs

True worth checking what the coating is, usually it's vinyl/foil wrap that bubbles.
