Electric car charging point

Just finalising plans for our renovation. Has anyone put a car charging point in without wining an EC? I’m wondering if it’s worth doing it now whilst all the messy stuff is being done. Is it a standard fitting? Most likely will get an EC at some point in the future, but not sure when.

I've had friends who have bought electric cars and installed charging points. Didn't seem to be that big a deal.
I know one ec seller has a deal where they will install it for free. I'd wait.

I would say definitely do it with the rest of the electrical work, it will be cheaper, tidier and you can choose where it goes.

I haven't but probably would in those circumstances. Like coordinating replacing the boiler with other renovations.

You get a grant towards installing a point but you have to Provide the details of the EC.
No car, no grant. All necessary electrical work is included in the (reduced) installation cost with a limit on how far charging point is from meter or consumer unit.

We don’t have an EC but are about to start renovating our new home and an electrician (who I rate) recommended running the cables for it during the renovation so we can install one in the future which sounds sensible to me.
