What did your single story extension cost?

Possibly a naive question but looking at ballpark ideas.

I live in a 3 bed semi and it is looking like I will be getting a single story extension. What did yours cost you and what did you have done?

I am in Essex, so know that it is a higher cost region.

I haven’t had one and am much further up North but the house next door is being renovated. I had a chat to the builders to ask about a single story extension and they said about 45k.

We haven't started yet but our architect suggested £1400/ SQM, Yorkshire, ground floor extension. I was surprised as I thought it would be more like £2k/ SQM. I hope he's right!
