I used to live in te north-east and spent a lot of time around northumberland so know parts quite well.

I think its one of the biggest counties in the UK so it would help if you kind of knew the area that you would like to live - it stretches as far north as Berwick and as far west as Carlisle almost.

Hexham is lovely - its on the A69 so only about 20 minutes from Newcastle - its a large town so has Tesco, MacDonalds etc. Morpeth is on A1, and also has some lovely areas, and again is only 15-20 minutes from Newcastle. There are some truely beautiful villages, but most have truely beautiful prices to match - so it all depends on budget?

Bedlington, morpeth, cullercoats and tynemouth are all lovely.Dont really know much about schools - I left the ne when I was 19. You could have a look on the OFSTED website for school league tables?
