Large white floor tiles with white grout - despair!

My new house has ridiculous large white tiles with “white” grout, inverted commas because they are currently grubby grey/black in the kitchen.

I have tested cleaning the grout with bleach and a toothbrush and it works but is that the best way how regularly will I be doing that?

Is there a way of cleaning the whole floor that will help keep this at bay?

Long term what flooring can go over tiles or is ripping them up my only option?

Thanks

I'd get one of those grout pens to colour it in grey, then it will look intentional not grubby! Life is to short for bleach and toothbrushes.

Once you've cleaned it all you could either change the colour of the grout but once it's been done and it's kept on top of when the floors are washed you'll notice odd marks here and there in the grout that will come straight up.

To have grout like that I don't think the floors were cleaned that often before you moved in.

@SeaTurtles92 they didn’t look to bad when we moved in but I was 8months pregnant and now we have a baby so toothbrush scrubbing hasn’t been a priority.

My husband has been mopping and steam cleaning the floor but all muck seems to get moved into the grout and stay there

I feel your pain, we had tiles through the whole of our downstairs and the cost a fortune and I hated them. The only way you could get the grout clean was on hands and knees with a scrubbing brush. I can thoroughly recommend Karndean, we have underfloor heating and kept the tikes, they screeded over the tiles and fitted the Karndean on top.

My daughter has black ceramic floor tiles that look like slate. Builders have been in and we are trying to scrub them but still not right, any advice as to what product will bring them back to black?

If it’s possible, I’d say sod it and install a nice cushionfloor vinyl on top. And choose one that hardly ever looks grubby, even when it is - like the one I’ve got in my kitchen. 🙂
Hard tiles are a PITA anyway, if you drop something breakable, which may well crack the tile, too. I’m speaking from experience here!
