What are the most secure front doors?

Hi all

Please help if you can. Were moving to a house we've just bought. It has a florid history, one if the neighbours say they suspect it was used to stash drugs in recent years??!!

That, and fact that DH works late, I want a very secure front door.

I'll have a nest cam at the front and back door.

Which intruder alarms are best? I'm thinking of sensor ones for downstairs.

Any other security measures i should be thinking of?

Thanks!!!

We have steel doors set in a steel frame, but if anyone wanted to break in they could just smash a window.

I'm surprised more people haven't said Solidor, that's what we have after dp's extensive research. More solid than Rock door (clue's in the name!). We really like ours and now have one for our back door too. The lock brand is Ultion, and we have the same key for front and back, which is handy.

Are all solid hardwood doors the same?

I'm thinking about getting great locks on wood as I've read a few articles that say wood allows for the best locks?

I'm not really worried about the front door being kicked in. I'm thinking that's got to be rare?

It's just that DP travels a lot abd I want to feel safe with the DC at night.....

Solidor are very good. We also have a solid oak door with two mortice locks. Avoid Yale type ones. Get bolts too. Small amount of glass. Ditto for back door. Always have double glazing and window locks. Just make it as difficult as possible. Don’t leave ladders lying around and lock up properly every time. We also have a burglar alarm.

Just do not buy a cheap door! Solid and very good locks.

Whatever door you fit, it must be installed properly with good hinges, locks and a solid framework around the door which holds the door.

No matter how good your door is, installation/fitting the door is just as important.
