Has anyone replaced kitchen cabinet doors?

Hi - I’ve no idea if what I want is possible. We’ve just moved into a flat which has a brand new kitchen, but it’s just not to my taste.

The actual cabinets / layouts are good but id like to replace the doors from the current high gloss to something more matte. I’d also need the infills / side panels changing.

Has anyone done this? Do you need a normal kitchen company or specialist? Annoyingly, I don’t know where the current kitchen is from.

I assume it’s cheaper than replacing the whole kitchen..

Thanks!

We did it in my first flat, but it wasn't a great job, although did what it needed to freshen the small space up. For our most recent move, we've actually had our inherited kitchen cabinets painted (they were oak to begin with though, so a good canvas to work with). We used an independent kitchen designer who worked with an excellent kitchen builder, she was recommended to us by a friend. We did lots of talking about what we wanted and she came up with loads of alternative ideas for us (initially we thought we'd have to change the doors, but then we thought about repainting instead). The doors are actually quite expensive, so it doesn't save huge amounts of money if you think you might be remodelling in the future anyway, but if it's to be a long term decision, it's a good idea. I'd probably approach so,e local kitchen fitters and sound them out.

We did; we used this company. It was pretty easy to do; we paid a little extra to have the holes drilled for the hinges.

We’re currently thinking about doing this. There are sites online where they make made to measure replacement doors. Not sure about matching plinths etc. but assume they might?

I posted about this a while ago and someone recommended Kitchen Door Workshop. We got our replacement doors from them and the quality is good. You can get standard size ones and they will also make doors to measure.

You can get plinths and end panels etc as well.

We changed the kitchen cupboard doors in our first house. Bought nice door knobs online and got a local carpenter to do the fitting. Way cheaper than a new kitchen and completely changed the aesthetic!

Yes we did (although ended up replacing a few carcasses too). I measured up and just ordered the doors I liked from B&Q. Got a handyman in to fit them and it looks lovely!

We did. Used a local builder , much cheaper than replacing the whole kitchen. Will do it again in a few years . Very pleased with the results.
