Contemplating using a buying agent - if you used one would you recommend it?

Nope - can't see a benefit. If you've internet access and some basic requirements (location, budget, style of property), I think you can do it yourself.

Depends what you’re trying to buy, and where.

Not everything makes it to Rightmove.

I think unless you have a super high budget, and really really unusual requirements it’s not worth it.

Buying seems less of an issue than selling. Are there selling agents??

If you are buying from a distance- say overseas, or have very particular requirements it might be worth it. My buyer's buyer needed a house adapted for wheelchair use and the agent knew that my buyer had one and approachedthem and negotiated the sale.
You are paying someone to either do the legwork for you or who has connections (like prime Central London contacts for exclusive property). I'm not sure if you are just an average buyer how helpful it is. In America though it is normal as you tend to work with one agent who takes you round to every property on the market regardless of who is listing it and they split the (much higher) commission.
