Probate sale with equity release co-owner

Does anyone have any experience of buying a property that's going through probate, with an equity release co-owner?

I've got a viewing booked for a house that originally went on the market in November, and quickly went under offer. I'm told the prospective buyer has withdrawn and found something else as they thought probate was taking too long!

Given this delay, I suspect there may be a deal to be done, however as I want to port my mortgage to save on early repayment fees (£9k), I need to complete within 3 months of my sale (not in a chain) to get that money back, so I am concerned about timings.

Is there anywhere I can research to check if what they estate agent is saying is correct? Would the solicitors know why probate has taken 6 months already, and how long to conclude?

Any advice welcome!
