Workmen and their bloody radios!!!! (light hearted)

I can understand some people like a radio whilst doing DIY, but its so unreasonable that theirs are ridiculously high. I'm unsure how they can even hear it over their drilling, sawing etc. When I've ask for it to be turned down as working from home on calls, the volume creeps back up Angry

Is it mandatory that workmen have a blaring loud radio on that can be heard in the next street? Are those makita radios given out to all builders on graduation day?

Oh god, people are not having to put 'lighthearted' on DIY threads FFS.

Your not a real builder/roofer/joiner unless you've got a Makita radio.

I completely agree! When I worked in an office in a hospital there was a flat roof outside our window where workmen were doing their stuff. Hot day and their radio was blaring so loud that I couldn’t hear myself think. Our windows were mirrored so they couldn’t see in. In the end we stuck a bit of paper out the window and flapped it around until they noticed that said please turn it down.
Despite the fact it’s so irritating; it was a hospital and it could have been a ward! No thought for others.

We're about to have an extension built, and have told everyone involved that we can't fall out with the neighbours, so no radio!

I've got one, they are quite punchy Grin

Oh god we had this, awful! And repetitive adverts!!

And why do they try have a conversation without turning it down?! I was trying to decide on the exact spot for my kitchen island with it bloody blaring!

@Ilovemycat13- On a hospital is awful to have a blaring radio! Our neighbours daughter died of covid recently, so I didn't want swearing workmen and a loud radio on top. Plus, I'm WFH and need to make sesitive calls! Both of which I advised the workmen.
