How much time before we really need to look at 3 bed house?

We own a 2 bed house and have lived here for 4 years.

We didn’t have children when we moved here and now we have 2 a girl and a boy (3 & 1)

They currently share a room and are happy with that

We had hoped to move this year or next but the house prices have pushed 3 bed out of our affordability.

How long do we have until we really need to be in a. 3 bed?

I’m worried about putting life on hold indefinitely in case of future disasters again after experiencing the last 12 months

My 11 year olds still share so I think you've got a while yet.

Our younger two (G and B, same age gap) shared till DD was 10 and DS2 8. We moved to give them all their own bedroom then,, DD needed privacy.

As long as they get on you have a few years yet

We upsized when ours were 10 and 7, if the move will involve a change in schools I really recommend doing before they are in the school or at the latest some point KS1. My usually very laidback eldest really struggled with the school move. In terms of just sharing a room, we needed to separate ours when they were 7 and 4 but they've never gotten on very well and very much needed their own space.

Thank you, this is reassuring

Other houses have converted the loft so that’s an option we’d be able to consider.

Not the most practical conversions as the houses are narrow but definitely an option

We do love the house and our eldest often says that they don’t want to move anywhere else
