Looking for the wonderful research skills of MN vipers to find me a bunglaow within half a mile of the coast in Hampshire or Dorset.
Budget = under £260,000 but the cheaper the better
Bedroom = 1/2
Garden
Good public transport links (up to 2.5 hours on train to Bath)
Not too far from a hospital (I am not getting any younger)
Not a retirement property
Decent beach walks, coastal paths for my dogs

I have had a look at Portchester near Portsmouth but wondered if there are other similar places in that general area.

I know many of you on this board like a challenge. I'd be very grateful for any suggestions.

I've just had a look along the coast in my area (eastern end of Hampshire coast) and you might find something nice on Hayling Island. Beautiful pebble beach, nice gone-back-in-time community feel and close to the hospitals in Portsmouth and Chichester. Portchester is also very nice. Other nice areas are Emsworth and the surrounding villages but these tend to be a bit more expensive (think £300k plus).

Isle of Portland you can get for that budget. And the whole thing is surrounded the coast... Hospital in Weymouth less than 5 miles away.

There isn’t a hospital in Weymouth. It’s in Dorchester - not far but a very slow road in the summer. There’s a train from Weymouth to Bath but it’s infrequent and again very slow. Getting anywhere from the Dorset coast is slow! Still a fabulous place to live though, but you have to accept that’s it rural, the worlds get snarled up in summer and public transport is non-existent.

Thank you. Food for thought. It's looking to be Hampshire rather than Dorset. Good to hear that Portchester is a nice place and I'll have a nosey around Emsworth too.
