Laminate flooring vs Vinyl flooring for Kitchen and Dining area

Hi, would love everyone's thoughts on this. We have recently purchased a house. The house has a big kitchen and dining space. It currently has vinyl flooring. We are going to put a kitchen island in and want to change the flooring as well.
Which ones would you recommend and why? Any brand recommendations? Anything to avoid, to look out for?
Thanks

LVT (luxury vinyl tile) or plank actually is great, we have it in the children's bathroom as it is waterproof and warm under foot. If you spill anything you aren't worrying about it getting between the laminate planks. The installation process is the same, clicks together.

We are taking up laminate that has been down a long time in our dining room and hall and replacing that with LVT as soon as the shops open back up.

We have Kardean through our hall, downstairs loo, kitchen, utility and dining rooms.
I originally had it on the hall and loo floors and liked it so much we went on to have the rest done. You would never know the whole lot wasn't done in one go.
It has proved tough as old boots, waterproof and is easy to clean. It's nice underfoot, not as had and cold as ceramic tile and no grouting joints. The fitter said that if a board [we have oak plank-effect] gets damaged it can be replaced.
I sweep off the loose dust/crud and go over it with an EcoCloth mop with a squirt of diluted detergent from a spray bottle. The kitchen floor gets a proper wash as needed. I have used Dettox spray and assorted floor wipes on it, too.
