Bricks out of stock

Having extention done and walls nearly done upto bedroom level. Bricks finished and builders said the stock is not coming. Been 3 weeks now. Any ideas how to complete the walls with different colour bricks and add border in. Thank you

Don't, just wait, you'll regret it..

I wouldn’t, if you needed planning permission it’ll be a condition that bricks need to match. If you are doing it under permitted development then it’s only permitted if they match.
Plus it’ll look really odd (hence the planners wanting it to match)

Thank you, I will confirm with the builders about the building inspectors permission to use different bricks. The thing is that the builders are saying the bricks are rare and may not come back in stock.

The building inspectors don’t care about the colour of bricks but the Planner Officers might. If your extension is permitted development (didn’t require planning permission) then the rules state materials must be of similar appearance. Use different bricks and you’ll end up requiring a planning application.

Just ask your builder what his solution is.

I think they need to check more suppliers....there was a shortage of plaster last year but materials all in stock again....selco has a big range of bricks...check their website...unless they are used old speckled ones i doubt they are rare !
