Planning, I'm about to spit my dummy out!

I know in the scheme of things my issues are not that big but I'm annoyed tonight!

Got plans drawn up for an extension last year, architect failed to upload them to the planning portal, despite saying he had...at least 5 week delay.

Council planner came out for a site visit in Feb and told me he was pretty sure plans were fine and if there were to be any amendments he would let me know w/c 1st march...didn't hear from him so assumed all fine. Chased last week as 8 week mark had just gone but nothing until today when planning suddenly need loads of amendments. Still not sent anything concrete though just a general email that he needs to follow up in more detail.

I don't really want to keep using our architect after he lied about putting plans in when he hadn't but I also don't want to go through the hassle of engaging someone else.

Our builder was provisionally going to be starting soon, I've already been looking at rentals and now this has thrown me. I'm annoyed we are 5 weeks behind where we could be and that the planning department led me to believe they were going to pass it (he did pretty much say that in person).

I just want to jack the whole thing in and move! Yes, I'm being over dramatic but I feel like we've been in limbo for ages and now there's no end in sight! I know this is probably fairly typical but we haven't had any building work done before and I feel like we've been poorly done over twice and we haven't even started with the hard work yet.

Any words of wisdom/pull yourself together advise?

Why didn't you check? Applicatons are logged and it would have appeared online.
Be that as it may, the planning process is notoriously slow. We waited four months for approval for a project that had no objections with plans the we had pre- app meeting with the planners about.
You are going to have to be patient- just wait til the weather/supply shortgages/incorrect measurements start holding up your job.

I did check and the architect told me it was just a system issue but it would be back-dated as having been received earlier. I spoke directly to planning when I got suspicious and they confirmed it hadn't been put in.

I know I need to be patient, can't really do anything else just wanted to vent.
