Washer and dryer under stairs

I'm trying to create more space in the kitchen and I'm thinking about putting the washing machine and tumble drier under the stairs, in a cupboard. Is this a bad idea? I'm concerned about the noise mostly.

Really good idea of you have space. In my old kitchen we had a utility cupboard that was under the stairs. Washer dryer was there along with some shelves.

Close the door and the noise was reduced. Would recommend.

I see the appeal and my parents did it recently. I believe that there would be fire regs issues though if, for example, you ever wanted to let your property out to tenants. A fire under the stairs is nasty if that is your escape route from upstairs, especially if the stairs are wooden.

Getting plumbing in for the washer might be an issue.
I have a condenser dryer under my stairs (cupboard under stairs is accessed via kitchen rather than hall) but it needs to be well ventilated so I never close the cupboard door when it's on.
