insulating under the floorboards or insulated underlay?

Hi, we are trying to work out if we should go to the hassle of pulling up and potentially damaging old floorboards and skirting to insulate under the floorboards, or if we should take the easier approach of using a thick underlay and carpet and put corking between the boards. At the moment we have bare floorboards and you can feel the draft coming through. We are trying to find out if the effort and cost of the first option makes a significant difference - compared to the insulated underlay option. About to book the builder/carpet fitter in! Anyone got any experience to share on this? Thanks!

Have a look at Q-Bot, it sprays under floor boards and you may get a contribution from the green homes grant
