Do all downlights have integrated bulbs these days?

Hi. I need to buy 16 replacement downlights for my kitchen, which is being decorated next week. The current lights have replaceable bulbs but so far (in Screwfix and B&Q) I can only find downlights with integrated bulbs. I don't want to have to call an electrician every time a bulb goes, and risk damaging the ceiling, as well as risk having to replace all 16 if I can't match the one needing to be replaced.

Why are they all integrated? Is it still possible to buy non-integrated downlights and, if so, which brand would you recommend?

No. There are plenty with separate bulbs. Make sure you get LED though. They are cool and don’t give off heat in a small space. The built in bulb ones do last for years though. DD has them.

Lighting Direct have some. You add the bulb as an extra.

We have the built in kind. Last time one broke I easily found a match online and DH replaced it, bit fiddly but definitely possible!

We have “Aurora Enlite” downlighters, the bulb is separate. They were suggested by our builders and I’m happy with them.

Recommend looking for high CRI bulbs (eg Philips ExpertColour) as it makes a big difference to the quality of light.
