Starting to look at potential houses that we could afford with the intention to buy a house in around 12-18months.
We are not overly fussed about off street parking in general (both always lived in houses & flats without) however we do both have bicycles and my partner has a motorbike so we would ideally like some kind of a secure outside place to keep them.
Houses with actual garages are outside of our price range (quite considerably) but we have found a number of houses set out like in my diagram. Semi-detached houses with a approx 6 ft gap along the outside edge, currently there is a gate with access to the back garden. However we have wondered if we could put a small free standing garage (basically a metal shed) for secure storage of the bikes? In terms of cost it will cost a couple of grand to buy and install - so infinitely cheaper than the price difference of a house with a garage!
Would you do this? Would you be put of buying a house that had one of those in place for the future? Do you think it would be big enough for what we need it for is my only secondary concern?
