What needs to be decided before bathroom fitter visits??

Hi,

This might be a bit of a stupid question but what needs to be decided before the bathroom fitter visits to give you a quote? Do you need to know the exact suite you want and what tiles in order for them to give you a quote?

The fitters seem to have a long lead time for getting booked in, so I would quite like to get them booked in now for Summer, but I'd like to visit a few bathroom showrooms before finalising the tiles and suite (which won't be open until April).

Thanks in advance,
Mike

When our fitter came to give a quote we told them what we were planning in terms of layout, what items they’d need to fit, that we wanted them to construct a sub wall for the shower fittings, where was to be tiled and what size tiles we were likely to choose and so on.

You’ll need to be reasonably sure in your head about all of that, because that’s how they work out how long it’s going to take, what materials they’ll need to provide and how many people they’ll need to provide, and how they stagger the different elements of the fit. Obviously if you decide last minute that you want to relocate the toilet, that’s going to be a lot more work, time and tools and will hugely effect the rest of the fit. Deciding that you want the basin wall hung rather than on a pedestal, not too much trouble.
