South London Removals Recommendations?

Hi, anyone recommend a removal company to move within the Brixton / Streatham / West Norwood / Norbury area?

And any details - how much did they charge, did they supply any free boxes, did you pay for a packing service?

Many thanks!

We are in the West Norwood area and used DBM Express.

Can't remember exactly how much we paid, but we used their packing service too and thought they were good.

Thank you 3orangekisses

Was this relatively recently? Did you get a range of quotes?

Getting the quotes by video takes AGES!

We used harradines

This was June 2019. I think I got about 3 quotes but these guys were recommended to me and their quote was competitive. I can have a look back and see what we paid.

I think it was about £1350 all in with packing/ unpacking

Thank you!

I've used F Smith & Son a large removal company based in Croydon (but not during Covid). About £1000 inc packing (though will depend on size) seemed very professional, member of trade association.

Wow, hgaj - that sounds very reasonable if packing was included.

Is the cost of boxes included in the packing?

We used Caseys. About £1,200 including packing. Moving from a 2bed flat. We also got a quote from Harradines which was about the same. We paid £50 deposit for boxes.

Looking back at emails I see it was just over 1100 when insurance was added. Included boxes but not unpacking for a 2 bed.

Each house move is completely unique, so people saying how much their move cost is like comparing apples with oranges. All sorts if factors come into play when removal companies are quoting - amount of packing, ease of access to the property, their insurance offering just for starters, plus their prices are governed by plain and simple supply and demand before they even start. You'd be best to contact a few companies to ask for quotes. Whether they're able to send a rep round at the moment, I'm not sure but honestly prices can vary wildly for all the above reasons.

Fleurchamp · 26/02/2021 10:24

All the removal companies I contacted did video surveys, they wouldn't/ couldn't quote just from information provided by me.

The price for us for moving from 3 bed - 4 bed a couple of miles in London is £1800 for the full packing and unpacking (putting furniture back together etc) but I think this might have a bit of stamp duty holiday inflation added.

We’re moving in a few weeks and I’ve had quotes ranging from £900 - £1300. That’s for a 3 bed house in SE London, similar areas to yours OP, moving 15 mins away, doing the packing ourselves. People we’ve spoken to: Happy Removals, D and H removals, Harridines, Caseys.
