Damp/ water ingress. Please help me work out what needs doing

My house is Victorian end terrace. Two bedrooms have water ingress in the top wall corners where they meet the ceiling line. Externally there is a chimney behind the problem area which we had capped years ago. The roof is the original slate one and have been told by roofers it's at end of its life but no other damp problems. Any thoughts on possible cause and solution carefully appreciated. Also.will it get worse if left unrepaired?

Are the gutters OK? If they are damaged or blocked they could be the problem.

If it is next to the chimney or could be an issue with flashings I think.

(Although what does it look like in the loft above?)

thanks. had the gutters cleaned about 6 months ago. Haven't checked the loft space above there
