Am I house hunting because I'm bored?

We relocated a few years ago and let out our house while we decided whether to stay in our new city. Fast forward to 2020 and they announce the stamp duty holiday. Great opportunity to sell our house and buy locally. House sold with no issues and we started to look around. Offered on a house but it fell through (actually not too bothered so probably for the best) we decided to take a break and save up for a while given that out outgoings have massively reduced since covid/lockdown. Even before covid the last few years have been stress after stress (dad died suddenly, husband lost his job, DS hot diagnosed with ADHD) so a break would be good. Yet I can't stop viewing houses and planning our move! We wouldn't be Be able to complete a purchase before the end of the stamp duty holiday now so, am I addicted to stress or am I just bored of being stuck at home with nothing to do and nowhere to go.

It's possible that house hunting is providing you with a nice bit of lockdown escapism (similar to how some people are enjoying planning future holidays, or rambling the world through Google Street View), but it sounds like you're in a really good position - if you come across something you really like, you're ideally placed to move, and if you don't, you can stay put and keep saving. So I'd say you're good either way!

I am looking for a house for about 6 years time when I retire....its something to do in lockdown. .I like the dreaming aspect of it!

I look at houses where I grew up and dream of moving back. The reality is that my childhood and the people aren’t there any more, and I’d hate it.
A little fantasy does you no harm.
