tell me about hot tubs

Given the restrictions on travel, going out etc this year I'm starting to think it might be time for a hot tub. I don't know much about them. Does anyone have any recommendations, or the opposite? How much do we need to pay for something good and reliable to fit 4-6 people? I notice some sites sell reconditioned or ex-display models which seems like a good idea. Otherwise second hand seems a bit risky if you don't know what you are doing...

We already have a pool with a fairly large patio area so it would go there. A solid one, not an inflatable one. Also wondering if we could use the same heat exchange pump as we use to heat the pool???

Second hand is fine, and a much cheaper option, but it depends on model and care. Best of both worlds can be local hot tub companies who might be getting rid of old models or ex-display. A good price, as tubs have come down a lot in the last few years, so a good 4-6 would be £4k-£6k, maybe less if second hand but in good condition. What you need to focus on is not just a good price, but also maintenance and parts. Research the model, make sure you can get parts, and buy a good chunk of filter replacement kits and all the things you might need with it, at the same time. It's a costly way to find out that you can't replace something you need later, trust me.
