Removing a stairlift

Anyone able to give a rough idea of the cost of removing a stairlift? From a three bed, single flat with a turn to the landing. Thanks!

Contact the company that originally put it in. Often they’ll come and remove it and use the parts for spares etc. We did this when we removed my mums one. There was no charge. Often they’re installed on a monthly hire fee anyway so they’re happy to be removed.

Ok, thanks. If we were buying a place that still had it when we bought would it not matter that we didn't put it in in the first place?

Can only see the rail in the pics.

But great it shouldn't be a big additional cost!

I wouldn't think that matters, as long as they pass on the paperwork to you for it. If you go forward with the property and don't want the stairlift, it may be an idea to ask to see the paperwork and/or for them to arrange removal (my SIL arranged the removal with my MIL's property at the buyer's request).

There will be some costs in making the wall neat again - the ones I've been involved with left some obvious marks on the walls. Nothing big, all cosmetic, but stairlifts aren't kind to paint or wallpaper and there will obviously be holes in the wall where it was attached.

When DGM died the installation company wanted £2000 to remove it 😱

They are quite bulky items. £2k is a pisstake obvs but IME i would get the vendor to remove it. Too much hassle.

My nans stair lift was removed by the company it was brought from and they brought it back, of course for a tiny tiny amount, compared to what she paid for it.

We just completed on a house that had a stairlift on Friday just gone! The owners removed the stairlift before they left, they had a bit of a panic as they tried to remove it themselves on Thursday night, couldn't figure it out, but the company who installed it came out first thing Friday and took it all apart for free as far as I heard? Just ask for it to be removed before completion and then it's not your problem! There are holes where it was screwed in to the wall but we are painting anyway so no big deal!

Thanks all, will ask for it to be removed as best bet - avoiding faff if nothing else!

Enjoy your new home applestars!
