We are having to relocate due to dp's job and am after some advice of where to look. We need to be within one hour of Barrow. Can anyone recommend what the nicest villages are. We would like a quiet village location and ideally with a primary school in walking distance. We have visited Grange, Ulverston, Milnthorpe in the past but don't really know very much about the surrounding villages. Thanks

Grayrigg is a good village with a superb primary school. No village amenities apart from church and school, but great community spirit, very close to jnc 36 of M6 so good transport links and close to Kendal for shops etc. It is 45-60 mins from barrow, so on limits of your range.

Ravenglass seems like a nice place from what I can remember.

Cartmel is super touristy, but very pretty.

Underbarrow is a lovely village, good school and pubs.
