Travelling to house hunt?

I have accepted an offer on my house. We are moving about 70 miles to London. Due to how long things are taking conveyancing wise, I think we need to start visiting properties in person (I've narrowed it down to about three or four). As next week is half term, I thought I might do a day trip to view, returning home in the evening. I've checked the guidance and it says you can view houses, and there is no mention of distances. Obviously I wouldn't travel if I was looking for a second home, but this is a major move and we need to be in this summer before school starts. If we don't go next week, it will have to wait until Easter break, putting us under even more time pressure, though of course we may well have to go back again then anyway. Part of me thinks this isn't an absolutely essential trip, and we do have to travel quite a ways out of our area. Opinions?

I'd go and get house viewing.

Yeah, it’s fine. We ended up having to host viewings and go on viewings during lockdown (chain collapsed grrr and forced us to host viewings whilst DH was shielding). It all felt pretty Covid secure - probably more risk doing a grocery shop....

*forgot to say we were viewing out of local area too with two small kids in tow. Not much fun but definitely doable....

You're allowed to do whatever you have to do to move. Just crack on.

Yes, this is allowed. Roaming around the country looking for 'for sale' signs isn't, as that can be done remotely, but the stage you're at needs to be done in person.

Thanks, feel better about going. Not a lot on at the moment, but there are a couple that meet the 'location, size and price' criteria. Now just have to get my head around moving from large detached to tiny terrace!
