Composite door cost

We’ve been quoted £1,120 total to supply and fit a composite door. That includes a window above the door with three numbers etched on.

Does that sound about right?

We’re in Cambridgeshire.

Yes, I think so. We’re paying £1400, and the door will have a glazed panel on one side and also above.

Ch3rish · 09/02/2021 07:02

If all the quotes are the same I think it's OK to assume you aren't being overcharged, it's not very likely that the different fitters would be getting together to put prices up.

TopTabby · 09/02/2021 07:08

Yes, we had 2 last year for a discount price of £1,800 which we considered very good.

MinnieMountain · 09/02/2021 07:10

Thanks.

I’ve got someone else coming next week. I was just wondering as the first people have a good reputation locally, so I’d like to use them.

That seems about right. Ours was £1200 with some side windows a couple of years ago.

Andthenanothercupoftea · 09/02/2021 07:19

Sounds about right. We're having one installed as part of an insurance claim and we got three quotes between £1300-£1700. We're in Oxfordshire, but the doorway itself needs a bit of work to "make good" which added to the labour costs.

ihatethecold · 09/02/2021 07:23

I’m in Cambridgeshire also. I’ve just had a door supplied and fitted for 1.2k
I love it.

Which company are you using op?

We paid £1500 recently for ours. We upgraded various parts which put the cost up.

BeakyWinder · 09/02/2021 07:31

Depending how fancy the fanlight is, that is about right, and quite reasonable if it includes fitting. It should be certified for security, and make sure it includes a decent 3 star cylinder (lock) like a Brisant Ultion.

MinnieMountain · 09/02/2021 07:40

It’s a plain glass fanlight with our house number etched on.

Lovely door btw. Ours will be half the door with a grid of glass.

We had one fitted in 2019 and it was £1400. We love it.

smartipants · 09/02/2021 10:26

@ihatethecold that's a really nice door in a lovely colour Smile with matching frame, which I think normally costs more? I'm looking for something very similar, could you share where it's from ?

JemimaTiggywinkle · 09/02/2021 10:37

Seems expensive to me... we had 2 composite doors (front and back) supplied and fitted for £1500 last year.

We are in the north through.

Door from here, supplied and fitted by a local joiner: www.distinctiondoors.co.uk/

ihatethecold · 09/02/2021 10:52

@smartipants
It’s from Globe home improvements.
The door is an Endurance one.
It was recommended to me on MN.

Great customer service. I’m really pleased with the outcome.

smartipants · 09/02/2021 11:00

@ihatethecold Thanks, I'll check em out 👍

Comefromaway · 09/02/2021 11:28

We've just had a quote of £1,500 to have this fitted with spy hole and key thumb lock

Sounds about right - we're having a Solidor fitted for a little more but I managed to choose the most expensive fittings

Comefromaway · 09/02/2021 11:31

Ours is Solidor. I looked at the range Jemima linked to but I liked the options Solidor did.

stormelf · 09/02/2021 11:34

We've just had quote for £12250 for solidor fitted. I did choose most expensive door furniture though

It's a lovely door but I found when I had one like that that the "as standard" spy hole is completely redundant when the door has such big glass panels. I use my spy hole when I don't want someone to know I am deciding whether to open it or not as they can't see me.
Furloughedpissedoff · 09/02/2021 11:46

For a Palladio front door cheapest I was quoted £1350 most expensive £2200 supplied and fitted, glass panel and letter box. Northern Ireland.

Kevinbaconsrealwife · 09/02/2021 12:04

We paid £1100 from a local company supplied and fitted 2 years ago...absolutely love it, it’s lifted the look of the whole house...Northamptonshire..

Comefromaway · 09/02/2021 12:14

My husband specifically doesn't want anyone to be able to see through the glass panel so although the outside is clear glass with the patter, the inside is going to be stippled.

stormelf · 09/02/2021 12:23

That was meant to be £1250, not 12 grand!
