What is this type of bench called please?

Please help me, I may have imagined a type of bench that doesn’t really exist Grin I want a bench to wrap around a corner in the kitchen. The corner is backwards though - all the corner sets I can see close in on themselves, this is a corner that points out. So when you sit on the bench, you’d be facing out.. if that makes any sense? I have no idea what that type of arrangement is called! If I search for corner benches they’re all the wrong shape, please help!

Have you tried searching for a wraparound bench?

Sammiesnake · 08/02/2021 17:03

Yes but I’m getting garden furniture!

So you want it to go around the back and bottom of the L probably worth speaking with a carpenter directly.

Sammiesnake · 08/02/2021 17:44

Yes I think you’re right! I could find a carpenter to do a wooden bench of some sort. I was hoping for a fancy velvet thing - I’ve definitely seen them before but no idea where to find one!

The fancy velvet ones (banquettes?) will most likely be bespoke. You’d need a local upholsterer and carpenter - ideally who work together!

If you can find a local place that makes eg large headboards or curtains with pelmets (ie they are used to working with mdf not just fabric) they can probably put something like this together.

Ok thank you! No idea where to start finding someone like that! 😂

Local upholstery company might help. Google something like "made to measure sofa"

SparkysMagicPiano · 08/02/2021 18:39

Is this the sort of thing you mean?

Are you sure velvet fixed upholstery in the kitchen is a good idea? 🤔

Frogsareflyinginfromthewest · 08/02/2021 18:45

Search 'bench seat' on Houzz.com for some inspiration. Do you have a local 'on your doorstep' type flyer with all local tradespeople in?

A local joiner could make it, and then get an upholsterer for the cushions.

RuggeryBuggery · 08/02/2021 18:46

I suppose it’s also maybe less common because it’s not a very social way of seating is it. You couldn’t sit there with a friend and chat because you would have your backs to each other? How do you envisage it being used?

Sammiesnake · 08/02/2021 19:29

@RuggeryBuggery not looking for opinions on if it’s a good idea or not - it’s my kitchen and I’ll have what I like 👍 but thank you 😂😂😂
@SparkysMagicPiano ahh thank you that’s helpful!!
@Frogsareflyinginfromthewest brilliant thanks so much!!

Reverse corner something, I think.

Oops I see @SparkysMagicPiano already linked to one! Sorry
