Has anyone been in a situation before when a builder has asked for more money when on a fixed quote contract?! What did you do?!
It seems my builder has over spent and is asking for almost 20%(!) of the cost of the original quote as an additional payment. He has said that as it stands, he can't afford to finish the build. I have been happy to pay for things in addition to the work that was quoted, but I'm a bit dumfounded about this additional extra payment.... that we can not afford to pay.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Does anyone know what our rights are? As I understand it, the quote was a fixed price quote, and therefore, legally, we do not have to pay.
