Best paint for skirting boards?

elscar · 19/01/2021 13:24

Getting the house freshened up ready to sell and want to paint the skirtings (I never done this when we painted the walls...I know I know!)

What type of paint would you suggest? (White)

Satin?
Gloss?
Matte?

Thanks!

oil based gloss.

gloss is currently considered somewhat démodé

if you have eggshell you will find it holds the dirt and is impossible difficult to clean.

satinwood is not as bad.

I used to use gloss but found it went yellow, all recent decorating I’ve used satinwood.

Satinwood here too. Gloss is too messy and doesn't seem that popular these days 🤷🏻‍♂️

Chumleymouse · 19/01/2021 17:19

Satin for me too , gloss is nasty

Oil based will go yellow over time and smell to high heaven for days.

I'd use water based eggshell

For selling, satinwood. Gloss is more durable but takes an age to dry.

Satinwood IS eggshell. Water based is better, oil based gloss will go yellow over time, water based gloss is also available. Most paints are water based now, because of VOCs

Thank you everyone :)

Satinwood and eggshell are NOT the same thing. Satin is more durable.
