Living room ceilings - how to decorate

Our new house (new to us, not a new build) has the ceilings papered in textured wallpaper, painted white to match the plain plaster coving. The ceiling pattern is very subtle, think small bubble-type pattern. I think it looks quite nice. I can't decide whether to leave the paper in place when we redecorate and freshen up with new paint, or whether to strip the wallpaper and have the ceilings skimmed? The walls will be painted plaster.

Our old house had a patterned artex ceiling so I've never had a "plain" ceiling before.

What would you do?

I’d strip the paper off.

I'd probably just paint over it. Actually I'd probably mean to but then not get round to it.

Looks up at ceiling

Yeah we've just left ours as is, not even bothered painting it as the decor in this room was fine when we moved in!
