Has anyone got a tiled shelf like this in shower bath

Has anyone got a shelf in the bath like this? If so, have they had any problems with water pooling or leaks? I want to move my bath forward from the wall, put a tiled fake wall and put in a shelf to give an extra 10-15mm of elbow room while showering and a shelf for shampoo/ mug.

When’s we had our bathroom done we. Had a couple of 30cm x30cm tiled alcoves built into the wall.
We do find that the one inline of the spray gets a small puddle of water on it. We keep a flannel in the shower to wipe it down when finished.
