Viewing in a tier 2 from tier 4, not allowed?

Hi, Please help me get my head around this! The gov website hasn’t clarified it for me.
We are in the south east tier 4 hoping to buy in a currently tier 2 area 200 miles away. We were all set to do viewings over Christmas and stay locally. When I spoke to the estate agents they told me that we couldn’t do the viewings because we were in tier 4, so we cannot enter a house or travel etc. The gov website site says under tier 4 and ‘moving home’ that you can still do viewings and move. I’m not sure how this would work? We can’t really do viewings there and back in a day ( 2 young dcs) but I don’t believe we are allowed to stay in accommodation anyway. Am I misunderstanding something?
We are absolutely desperate to move closer to family, looking at rental and purchases and hoping the market will pick up. We are chain free and ready to go but don’t want to break any rules.
TIA

House moves are still allowed across all 4 tiers - some guidance here:

However, you are supposed to only visit properties if its essential to do so and you are thinking of making an offer. It is allowed but discouraged. I don't think you can stay overnight unless you are actually moving and need accomodation.

Thanks, I think that’s how I understood it. I was hoping there might be a way round it but looks like we will have to wait it out!

Why are you waiting it out? It is quite clear on the government website that the viewing of properties across all 4 tiers is allowed, and that the housing market can continue as normal.

Most agents with do a video viewing first if you ask (walking around with an iPhone) which enables you to only go and see the houses which are real possibilities.
