Has anyone else got a room that just won’t be decorated?

We’re on our second relain of the Ball and stairs in 7 years and it looks rubbish. I’m using f&b eggshell and it’s just not going on right but be used in on the fireplace and it looks blooming great on there!.

The wall where the stairs meets the plaster keep cracking, we fill it and it cracks again. It’s like a little gremlin follows us round unpicking everything we do.

The plaster work is rubbish around all the switches too, we filled and sanded. Still looks rubbish. I just don’t know what to do because every other room I do looks nice.

I did the bedroom in wilko paint with John Lewis’ cheapest bed/bedside table and that looks nice so I can achieve a good finish.

Paper it with lining paper (one of the thicker grades) to hide the cracks and then paint the lining paper. It’s a nice base for the paint and stops the cracks showing. No need to strip when you next want to change colour, just keep the lining paper and repaint.

Oh we get this too, it’s so annoying. It’s because of the weight of people going up and down the stairs so I’m not sure what can be done.
