Are Premium/Featured on Rightmove worth it?

We’re back on the market unexpectedly after our chain collapsed a few weeks ago (a buyer further down the chain pulled out with no explanation and no one has had any further contact from them). We sold quickly the first time, with an offer we were very happy with after less than two weeks. We’ve been back on the market again a couple of weeks now and had some interest but no offer yet. Obviously lockdown and the pre-Christmas slowdown haven’t helped. Any thoughts on whether or not the Premium or Featured options on Rightmove are worth spending the money on?

Not worth it now.
Be prepared for cheeky offers and have a bottom line.
Don't be bullied - you and your families needs are the most important. Despite being an old hat at dealing with estate agents I've been upset by ours being total wankers and we are the ones paying them!!
Expect it might not pick up till March now - and that's ok. Yes shame about the stamp duty but shit happens and people still need to move. Pass the cost up the chain.

I’m not so sure. Perhaps it depends on the type of property. If it’s a family home and 2nd or 3rd rung on the ladder, then maybe not. People are likely to be specific about what they’re after and know where they’re looking. First time buyers tend to be more flexible so a featured listing popping up might attract their attention more.

What to you get for it?

Is it just posted at the top

I’d say not. I always thought there was a reason it was featured, ie more pressure to shift it and would always look at all houses on equal basis

MarshaBradyo · 16/11/2020 15:03

Do

I’ve always concluded those houses are the hard ones to sell 🙈 although that said, there have been two houses round me that have clearly fallen through recently & they’ve both been premium ads. I imagine much the same as you, desperate to sell again & not lose the entire chain!

Thanks everyone. I think I’m just being impatient - it was really gutting that the chain collapsed, the house we were buying has sold already but our buyers still want the house and we’ve had a little look at new properties for us. It all went wrong the week we were due to move, so really late in the day - we were gutted

I always assume the premium/ featured ads are for houses that the vendor has struggled to sell and is now chucking everything at shifting, tbh.

I can see point of PPs, but I don’t get negative impression from that personally, & if you are trying to move in a hurry I’d say worth it

An enormous number of people don't scroll down very far, so yes I'd say they're worth it, particularly if you want to be seen by people with quite wide price range they would consider.

But if you asked the general public - lots of people are completely unaware of how well these kinds of digital marketing tactics work on them, so they probably wouldn't say it was effective.
