Would you do this??? I’m thinking it will be chaos, I’m currently on furlough and go back to work 3rd December (hopefully) kids break up from school on the 18th December, not sure how to juggle everything at once, has anyone moved house at Christmas? Tell me it’s not to bad 😬

We moved house once whilst renting 3 days before christmas, fully decorated tree went in the back if the hire van! Grin it wasnt ideal but we got organised enough to not feel like we were tripping over boxes by christmas. But, we had one child then and not as much stuff. We mow have more stuff and 3 children so the chaos would be worse.

We are hopefully completing our house sale/purchase very soon. We were hoping to squeeze it into November but December is now looking more likely. To be honest we just want to get moved now, so even if it ended up the week before Christmas we would just go for it because we are fed up of waiting!

I have moved house in December twice now. No problem at all.

December and Christmas are different issues. Lots of people want to be in by Christmas, so mid-December onwards gets manic.

Moved a week before Christmas. Took kids to breakfast club at school, removals packed up, unpacking in new house, kids come home from school to new house. Spent whole weekend unpacking leaving just 3 boxes in the garage. Back to school and work following mon, tue and wed was Christmas on the Saturday. Then had two weeks off to start settling in. Not ideal but was the only date all the other people in the chain could do.

We moved a few weeks before Christmas and it wasn't an issue. It was nice to celebrate in the new house.

Moved twice during December beginning and middle. Absolutely fine.

We moved into our current house on 23rd Dec. It wasn’t ideal but we made the most of it. Christmas for me is a day to switch off, eat, drink, enjoy my family! All of which you can still do. We had already bought our cupboard food, drink, treats & we went shopping for our perishables the evening we moved in. Turkey already ordered to collect on 24th. I’d been organised with presents & had them stashed at my parents house. They kindly brought them too us on Christmas Eve! I cobbled our Christmas tree up, hung some lights round the dining room & bosh. We had a lovely Christmas Day! A bit chaotic but enjoyable none the less!

I’ve moved previously the week before Christmas. It was fine.

I've moved between Christmas and new year before. I didn't put any decorations up as everything in boxes, but I went to family for Christmas itself so it wasn't a problem. It's not the greatest time to move if I'm honest!

I wouldn’t want to.

Absolutely fine. Especially if you are on furlough until early December. Use your time wisely whilst you are not working. Buy all presents and wrap them ask someone you trust to store them. And pack as much as possible.
We did and it was no different to any other time of year to be honest.
