Japanese knotweed and TA6 property information form

I don't think we've got Japanese knotweed, but we've never had an inspection or anything like that for it. Does that mean I should select "Not known" on the property information form? I.e. because I can't give a definitive "no" can I? Or am I over thinking this?

I said no on mine (house has been in my family for considerably longer than I’ve owned it) and my solicitor suggested I change it to ‘not known’. Although five months later, they are asking me all over again 🙄

We just put no. I think you'd know if you had it

Billericaydicky · 09/11/2020 20:27

We put no as we hadn't got it or had it in the past. No comment from our solicitor.

Do you suspect you might have it?

NeverTwerkNaked · 09/11/2020 20:29

I said that I had no idea as I didn't know what it looked like and that they should rely on their survey.
Their surveyor should check for knotweed.

"not known" is good answer. If you dont know definitively either way. The onus is then on the buyer /their surveyor to inspect.

I would definitely go for don't know

Thanks all, I'll go with don't know
