Flat sale Management pack fees

My management agent are charging me £360 to tell me the landlords name, current service charge budget etc. I already pay them a ridiculous amount of money to act as my management agency. Is there anything I can do about this cost? I think it’s completely over the top.

We have just had to pay pretty much the same amount for that as well for the flat we are selling. I agree, it seems far too much.

Agree it’s ridiculous but unfortunately completely standard

Yep we just paid £130 for the pack for the flat we're selling. Its ex council though so they are a bit cheaper at the council because they dont want to look too much like they're a money making beast

Thanks all. I read that there was a cap of £200 but clearly not the case. It has to be paid so I’ve completed the payment but I sent them a slightly ranty email to tell them it was extortion 😁. Didn’t use those words but not far off it. Bloody hell when will the costs end!

You can request all the information individually as a subject access request. They can't charge for them. However they've likely to take a very long time to respond.

Management companies seem to have a licence to print money.

I agree re: licence to print money.

Have also just found out that our mgt agent has been approving jobs without recourse to the directors of the residents mgt company (I'm one),

We had a strategy about some work eg. keeping the CCTV functional but not spending lots of money on it as a full system replacement would tie in with other work scheduled for 2021. Agents have changed. This plan obviously hasn't been handed over and new one has apparently authorised a huge upgrade on the current system.

Grrr. I'm up for a battle with her boss - it was unauthorised work they can bloody pay for it.

The management pack is a LOT of work.

Can take multiple departments hours of work. Plus the certificates required for it are all expensive.

Who else is going to pay for that?
