IKEA VATNESTRÖM mattress anyone?

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of this mattress? We've tried loads from different shops and this is the first one we've both liked. It also appeals to me that it is made from natural fibres and should hopefully be less sweaty as I am a.hot sleeper. It seems to be a new range so there aren't many reviews out there. Anyone tried it? Any thoughts?

Hi. I've had this mattress for 3 weeks. I bought the firm (there's also an extra firm). It felt too firm for the first week so I bought a Coolmax mattress topper from BigW which is blissfully soft (more padded than a mattress protector). I have an electric blanket so that probably hinders breathability. After a few weeks the mattress is getting softer but they say you need to sleep on it for a few months to know for sure. I also sleep hot and chose this mattress for it's natural fibres - definitely didn't want any memory foam layers for this reason! So for coolness and comfortability I can recommend.

Thanks that's really helpful. I took the plunge and ordered it, will be delivered in a few weeks time so I really hope I like it! It's so hard to choose when you're only lying on a mattress for a few minutes in a brightly lit shop with people walking past!

@NataliaRDGUK sorry I've only just seen your post so I'm probably too late. Overall very pleased with the mattress, it's cool and breathable. We went for the firm one and it is VERY firm. I like a firm mattress but this was close to being too firm. My husband is a bit heavier than me and he found it okay (I'm 9 stone). Anyway, I got used to it quickly and am really pleased overall. Hth.

Thank you for replying. We went ahead and got the firm one and we've been using it for about 3 weeks. So far so good! I sleep on my back and it works very well for me.

My personal recommendation is to avoid the vatnestrom. The adverts claim excellent edge support but this is a total fabrication, the edges collapse completely when the lightest pressure is applied by hand as per my photos. Luckily it is in an unoccupied spare room, and we have had no guests during lockdown, but we regret making a very expensive mistake and are currently battling IKEA for a resolution. They are insisting that a fault-finding inspection takes place before they will permit an exchange - BUT this is not a "fault" - just shoddy design. Also, this being their top line mattress I dread to think how bad the cheaper ones must be. I believe that we will have to take it to trading standards if we are to have any hope of a satisfactory resolution. I cannot advise you strongly enough to AVOID this expensive piece of rubbish.
