Moving from London to Hoddesdon

Thinking of moving from London to Hoddesdon as prices are cheaper and can get more for your money.

Husband drives, I don't, we have one DS, hopefully one more in future.

Anyone got any experience either living in hoddesdon or making a big move?

I'm in Hoddesdon. It's very 'small town' compared to London but I think it's a nice place to live. Not driving shouldn't be an issue as there's a good bus service, station for getting into London and you can get an Uber easily. Is there anything in particular you want to know about?

Thanks for your reply @thumbcat

I'm most interested to know about nursery and primary schools in the area and whether it's easy enough to get around.

I am 30 odd so a strange thing to be thinking but also am I going to make friends in the area? I'm worried I'll be isolated and hate it

We moved here from a nearby town and were really pleased with the primary school we moved DS to. I've heard good things about other local primaries too. I can't comment on nurseries or the local baby/toddler groups as we didn't live here then. However in normal times, pre-covid, there seemed to be lots of clubs and groups and there are some lovely nearby places for days out. You should be fine without a car. We live on the edge of hoddesdon but can walk to the centre in around 25 minutes.
