Gas v induction hobs - your experience please?

I'm considering an induction hob - are they any good. I have an impression (not sure where from) that they're slow to heat up - is this correct or am I misguided?

Absolute induction fan here. Briefly went back to gas when we moved in here and couldn’t wait to be rid of it.

Pans matter, some are better than others. Also having the correct size pan on the correct size zone matters too.

We have a Neff, it’s brilliant. Our second Neff induction as we had similar in our old house. We have the 80cm one with 3 rings plus one flex zone and it’s pretty perfect. Our old one was the larger on with two flex zones and that wasn’t as good actually.

Definitely induction here too. Not good for stir frying in a wok but works well for everything else and super quick for boiling water. Just make sure your saucepans are steel, a magnet can attach to, otherwise won’t work. I did end up giving away an expensive copper frying pan because it didn’t work.

Ours is Siemens too. Definitely recommend. Also recommend not dropping heavy things and cracking the glass, although mine still works despite this.

I have a Miele 4 zone with boost function and timer and each area can take a variety of pan sizes so they don’t have to fit exactly. The hob works it out. I have John Lewis saucepans and a LeCrueset non stick frying pan that’s very wok like! I have found a Tefal non stick pan to be less good. Buy the best you can afford.

Cleaning is just a damp cloth! Couldn’t be easier.

I was one of those 'no no I only want gas' people

Got an induction last year. It's the best and SO easy to clean!
