I do realise there are so many variables but need a rough idea? Its South East and the painter is buying the paint and undercoat. Magnolia and white- so no fancy colours, patterns etc.

We’ve just had several quotes to paint our house inside and out, the three reasonable quotes would have come in at about 4-4.5k (guessing as we aren’t painting every room). We are in london, this doesn’t include materials.

We also had two quotes that were respectively, double and almost triple the other quotes.

Get several quotes!

£2.5k in the south east, with us supplying the paint. All new plaster so mist coat etc but not so much prep.

That was just internal, external was extra.

We paid £1700 for all walls stripped and painted or wallpapered in every room but we supplied the paint and wallpaper. They supplied the paint for the outdoors but it was only a bit of the front of the house as the rest was brick.

It's three reception rooms, three double bedrooms, granny flat, extended bathroom and kitchen and big hall, stairs and landing. We were quoted from £800- £7000 though! I appreciate that we got an excellent deal from this particular decorator, I think we filled a last minute cancellation or something because when we recommended them to our friend they quoted £1000 just for painting three rooms. We're in the north west

We're NW and paid £1500 for hall, stairs and landing including door frames / woodwork then £300 for each of 2 (double bedrooms). We supplied paint. For the whole house, I'd expect somewhere between £3-4k.

Thanks for the replies. Compared to these prices, I think we did very well on our quote and the finish was better than expected. Never considered it so expensive though!

North London. Bought paint and materials and hired a painter on a £130 day rate. Excellent job.

£300 per room average

Blimey some people have paid a fortune
I just paid £760 for an entire 3 bed house - every room ! Including some wallpapering For labour AND materials

GolightlyMrsGolightly · 18/09/2020 08:09

£5k for 2 big reception rooms, a big hallway. And 2 big bedrooms. But they are in a shocking state and need lots of filling etc and fiddly woodwork to paint.

MaverickDanger · 18/09/2020 08:17

We’ve just paid £650 for a large kitchen/diner, utility, bedroom and hallway/stairs/landing. Part of that is papering.

I’d expect under 1200 based on that.

I wonder if the price goes up disportion to actual size if house

Meaning the biggest your house the more you pay as they know you have more money
