Mortgage valuation to offer taking so long

Is it just us? I appreciate it must be a busy time but it’s so frustrating.

Valuation took place 3 or more weeks ago. Had a text saying they’d be in touch within a couple of days. They asked a question about our finances after a few days. We answered (via broker), after chasing turned out they don’t even look at the reply until after 2 weeks. Then it turns out DH missed an attachment in his reply. Uploaded. Now we’ve been told it’s another 2 weeks before they’ll even look at it again!!! It’s just a simple question with a simple answer. They’ll only speed it up if we’re within 5 days of exchange apparently - well we’ll never get to exchange at this rate!!!

Nationwide.

Anyone else? Any ideas on how to speed them up??

Apparently they’re inundated and very busy. A family member waited three weeks from mortgage in principle to then find they wanted more info, and it’s now been a few more weeks.

I expect it’s the backlog from lockdown and the stamp duty holiday fuelling demand, coupled with lenders being more stringent.

Ours took just under 7 weeks from application to offer. This was at the start of June, so you might experience similar timelines. Sad

Thanks. Not unusual then, though I suppose if it’s not just us that’s better than the other way round!

We just got ours approved with nationwide. Took 19 working days from start to finish - our broker said he couldn’t even chase until it was after that. That is apparently their average currently so if you had to answer additional questions i can imagine longer - was the one thing we were waiting for!
How many working days are you on currently?

Agreement in principle was 27 July, valuation was 28 July (must have been desktop), I was impressed at that point!

DH didn’t attach something to an email and the broker didn’t notice when he uploaded the response so I’m cross with both of them too!
