Fitted wardrobe equivalent of DIY Kitchens

Having been utterly demoralised by both the quotes and the lead times for fitted wardrobes I was wondering if anyone had found a fitted wardrobe equivalent of DIY Kitchens? Originally we'd looked at the Ikea Pax system which we've used in the past but we've got a really odd shaped gap and nothing Ikea supplies quite works in the space. We're looking for something with hinged rather than sliding doors, and we're pretty handy so are happy to measure up and fit ourselves. TIA!

Have you thought of the ikea ones and employing a joiner to sort the gap

Thanks so much @Leelaloo!

@BluebellsGreenbells, yes this was our first thought, but all the joiners seem to be so busy at the moment that they just don't seem interested in such a small job.

Can you draw what you mean? So we can come up with other ideas

Or you could try a handyman instead

Wildwood6 what sort of quotes have you been getting? I'm looking at getting fitted wardrobes as we do know a really good joiner but he's quite expensive.

Hi @BG2015 we had a quote of £6000! We've had them built a couple of times before (we've moved a lot!) and that's about twice what we paid last time, which was only a few years ago, for a similar sized space.

@BluebellsGreenbells thank you:) Its just a straight run of wardrobes 3m long with a ceiling heigh 2.35cm. The taller Ikea wardrobes won't fit in the space, and the shorter Ikea wardrobes look a bit short for the space (and we could do with the extra storage to be honest, so would prefer wardrobes as close to the ceiling heights as we can manage)
